Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were the last full days that we had to spend with my parents. We spent most of our time around the house enjoying Austin’s antics and took small day trips to nearby locations to run some final errands and keep everyone from going stir crazy. We went to Costco to pick up a Kitchen Aid mixer ($125.00 off – what a bargoon! Silver in case you were wondering.) We went to Picard Peanuts and picked up tons of nuts and chocolate. We hit Winners where Mom and Dad purchased t-shirts for all of my family members back on PEI. We got more cold medicine for my poor Mom at the grocery store. We did lots of chores around the house like replacing the shower head and toilet seat in our bathroom, getting a piece of glass cut and fixing a frame for hanging, adjusting the freezer door on the refrigerator so it closes tightly without intervention, filling the water softener with salt, cleaning out the garage, etc. We also ate too much food and got too little exercise. Sigh! I need a new exercise regime and fast! My mom and dad worked with Austin and had him taking up to two steps at a time before they left. It’s amazing how much your baby will flourish when someone new is interacting with him. A fresh approach makes all the difference in the world.
On Thursday Austin and I drove my parents to the airport to catch their flight back to PEI. We will miss them! All went well and they arrived home safely. In the evening, Jeff, Austin and I went out to celebrate our four year wedding anniversary at Zeke’s Feed and Fuel. We had the ribs – really would you order anything else? I can’t believe it’s been four years already. Time flies when you’re having fun! I love you Jeff! You are my best husband – ever.
Friday, Austin and I headed to Medicalis to see my co-workers and have lunch with my boss Ian. It was great to reconnect with everyone. When we returned home, Austin napped then decided that today would be a good day to officially start walking. I was on the phone with Denise and I could hear a clumping sound behind me. I turned around and saw Austin walking from the kitty food to the drawer where we store his toys. Two miracles in one day – 1. Austin was walking and 2. He was walking AWAY from the kitty food. That just never happens! Needless to say we spent the rest of the day practicing walking. He is a determined little Monkey and gains new skills very quickly.
Saturday was rainy and dreary. When Jeff got home from Aikido, we decided to head out for the Art Walk in Kitchener. My friend Liz was displaying her homemade soap products for the first time at a local studio. Her soap is beautiful! I ended up buying 10 bars of soap, two lip balms, liquid hand soap and bath salt. Look for Massey Soap House products at this website. http://www.masseysoaphouse.com/ Very good stuff!
Sunday was a beautiful day! We relaxed during the morning then headed out to purchase a coffee table at a St. Jacob’s factory store in the afternoon. We stopped at the updated Conestoga Mall on our way home to look for a car seat. It’s time to get Austin into a larger version. We were unsuccessful. Zellers didn’t have the one we liked in stock and The Bay did not have prices on their car seats. I refuse to buy something without a price on it. It annoys me. In any case, we were blown away by all the changes at the mall! The place is looking great! When we got home, we moved all of our outdoor furniture into the garage (and there was space for it – imagine that!) In the evening, we joined our friends Mike and Denise for dinner. They had a birthday present for Austin – well really more like many birthday presents but everyone spoils our son! It was a wonderful evening filled with good food, good friends and much laughter.
